y extrapolation from all the trapping of recent pet projects in self redemption one can reasonably conclude that Mr. Femi Fani-Koyade is a troubled man indeed in need of serious intervention of all sorts. What seems to be the case is that Femi obviously wakes up from different sides of his bed each time with some lunatic and idiotic ideas and what probably compounds his predicament is his impudence that convinces him that he can handle any issue on the fly without forethought. Such has become Femi's modus operandi, shoot first and ask question later. There is no question that Femi is out of his league. This is a classical case of Peter;s principal when a man is promoted beyond his level, in this case Femi promoted as an adviser and minister of Aviation. In other words Femi rose to his own level of incompetence. Staying up there is proving to be an insurmountable challenge.
Below is a response to one of Femi's futile nonobligatory search for "Who are the Yorubas people" Total exercise in banality, bromide and platitudes.
Most of us can smell Yoruba unsolicited propaganda miles away and this Kayode's piece is no different from other past agitprop. As usual, Yoruba continues to inflict themselves with bad publicity from their constant perpetration of fraud, embezzlement and mismanagement. They are also busy constantly creating a distraction away from such scandals. You can only feel sorry for Kayode and his ilk whose minds are turning into mush as they struggle to make sense of their irrelevance in the midst of great opportunities that were offered to them because ours is a country where competence and merit are not used as consideration nonetheless they were expected to perform at the barest minimum to help the nation move forward. Kayode's rodomontade smacks of a man that is afflicted with disquiet which coursed him to sleep walk into the 1800 history of the Yorubas to find solace.
Femi Fani Kayode is undoubtedly a desperate man grasping for meaning, the meaning that he could not find within himself otherwise he will be regaling us with his prowess, the meaning that he could not even find within his Yoruba contemporaries and in recent past. He is not only an incongruity of himself, the subject matter of his incoherent rambling " Who are the Yoruba people" is equally incongruous. Ordinarily, you will expect Koyade to indicate by way of allusion what prompted him to engage in this type of out-of-body soliloquy of hardly relevant ancient history but on a second thought what do you expect when poltroons like him start yapping away to shift attention from his dishonor and shame.
Kayode need not ask the question in the first place because most of us know who the Yorubas are without the question being asked. We know who the past, recent past and contemporary Yorubas are. There is nothing new about the Yoruba that we know in case Koyade is wondering, nothing has changed. If anything has changed Kayode will not need to travel into 1800 history to find out who the really Yorubas are. This is further evidence that the Yoruba is nothing but a constant, the more things change around them the more they remain the same. You will think that events could change the Yoruba but you will be wrong unfortunately. The Yoruba history from the 1800 is the same today, moribund, constant, staled and stagnant, they acquire education and then what, they became lawyers then what and they became teachers then what? That is the question that Kayode will almost and always avoid.
Some of you must have noticed that I get ticked off when I catch Yorubas repeating the lies they have been telling for decades when no one could challenge them, when they had a strangle hold on the Nigerian print and media but the internet has changed all that. Now these lies can be check and debunked instantly without Yoruba being able to do any thing about it. Thank God.
For the record, Femi Fani Kayode is the former Nigerian Aviation minister and also a former adviser to Obasanjo who is under indictment for mismanagement and embezzlement of more than N500 million. That kind of criminality alone can render a man non compos mentis. This is a man that providence gave one of the rare opportunities to make a different in his life, the lives of Yoruba and the lives of citizens of Nigeria and he squandered and rubbished it with impunity and indifference as usual. What a Scaramouch! And now he is wondering who is a Yoruba? Shouldn't the appropriate question that Kayode should have asked be "who is Femi Fani Kayode?" "Who am I? Why do I exist? Why am I a failure? Well, You are a Yoruba Koyade if you need someone to remind you, you represent what a Yoruba man is today in Nigeria, a disappointment, you represent the decrepitude of the Yoruba that you do not want to associate with, you are the embodiment of who is a Yoruba, you symbolize who is a Yoruba. Although by your description and standard of the 1800 Yoraba you might not be a Yoruba after all and it is possible that the recent past and contemporary people of the SW who consider themselves Yorubas might not after all qualify as Yoruba because they lack all the qualities you identified in the 1800 Yoruba. If some us did not know any better I will say that time shall help the Yoraba but from 1800 to present one would consider it long enough time I will suppose for Yoruba to have made a discernible difference. But mba!
Today, first, second and even third generation Yoruba have settled down and spread all over the world and are amongst the best and most sought after lawyers, nuclear scientists, doctors, industrialists, academics, writers, poets, playwrights, clerics, theologians, artists, film producers, historians and intellectuals. -----Femi Kayode
Femi, if your folks are as good as you claim why do you have to reach all the way back into the 1800 to find what you considered a quintessential Yoruba? There must have been a serious glitch, mishap or defect that you could not find worthy Yorubas along your travel to the 1800. You notice how the best Femi could do after all that bombastic is to tell us that Yoruba were trained as lawyers and doctors and crowder. What is extraordinary that a man was trained and he went on to practice what he was trained to do? It is called ordinary not extraordinary, if not everyone will be considered extraordinary just doing what they have been trained to do. When the facts are not on your side you engage in what is called exaggeration, propaganda and misinformation.
Isn't it interesting and curious that Koyade had to reach back into history beyond and before Nigeria was conceived to identify Yorubas who represent Yoruba excellence who are not trialed by one scandal or fraud. It is important to debunk this continuous misinformation about Yoruba history. Even Yoruba scholars agree that Ajayi Crowther the grandfather of Herbert Macualay was a slave returnee by the way of Sierra Leone Creole. Despite this historic fact Yoruba revisionist continue their misinformation which in a way is understandable because if they abandon such claims who will they put in their place? So the lies continue.
Against my better judgment I will pretend to follow Koyade's delusional logic to expose his confused state of mind. By extension Fani Koyade is obviously not a Yoruba given the fact that he failed by all standard to meet the standard set by those he effusively reminisced as being true Yoruba. So the question is who is Femi Fani Kayode, where is Koyade from, who and what does he represent. If Kayode is not a Yoruba by his own standard how come he is representing himself as such and determining who is a Yoruba?
What Koyade has engaged in is nothing but a cheap propaganda to divagate attention from his predicament. According to him Yoruba has made extraordinary contribution in virtually every field of human endeavor throughout the ages, if that is the case, how come all he was able to tell us was Yoruba ancient history of Methuselah era. Ok, Kayode, we now know who the Yorubas are in the 1800 and how Crowther translated the bible in the 1800, what about who are the Yorubas of recent past and contemporary Nigerian which you are part of? Who are they? Are they Yoruba? As they do not fit or meet your stated standard. What are you afraid of? Having ended your tall tell the way you did calls into question whether all these folks parading themselves as Yoruba are actually Yoruba because you failed to include the contemporary Yoruba as representing the Yoruba. We know how crowther represent the Yoruba, how does the present Yoruba represent the Yoruba that you are talking about?
What Kayode is saying in effect is that contemporary Yoruba has nothing meaningful to offer or to write home about and for that reason Nigeria should forgive, forget, overlook and substitute today's Yoruba with Yoruba of antiquity.
It is possible that Kayode is under tremendous stress due to his predicament and that the stress may have caused him to go off in a tangent and that is not to say that the absence of stress would have change the material fact of the fact that Yoruba has not really accomplished anything meaningful but at least the man could have kept his silence.
I look forward to hearing from any credible SW people that will buttress or substantiate any boast they make and I will congratulate the individual or group.
