was in my car on Monday, June 23, 2008 heading home from an engagement when I heard it on the news..... that one of John McCain's most prominent campaign chieftains, the "most honorable" Charlie Black, the lobbyists' lobbyist, had said in an interview with Fortune Magazine that another 9/11 style attack on the United States would be a "big advantage" for John McCain. My goodness!
Every time this new generation of so-called conservative, self-styled neo-cons speak, I shudder at their thought process. Are you kidding me?! So, what the American people need (actually what the neo-cons think we need) is another unspeakable tragedy just to satisfy their blood-thirsty appetite for power, by any means necessary. This is why the so-called religious right has lost its credibility, both before God and man by their open support for the fringe elements on the far right, as the scripture tells us quite emphatically how much the Good Lord despises those that seek to shed innocent blood.
The neo-cons (mind you that I have refused to refer to these usurpers of Abraham Lincoln's party as Republicans) have always fit the bill on just about everything that is antithetical to the will of God and if you think I am off base, you may want to measure their rhetoric with the scriptures they so much love to claim allegiance and obedience to.
All in one fell swoop, Charlie Black not only put his proverbial foot in his mouth, but his inordinate proposition has again served to give some credence to the 9/11 conspiracy theorists who continue to claim it was an inside job, thus belittling the sacrifices currently being made by our troops in Irag and Afghanistan, as well as that of the 3000 Americans who lost their lives on that fateful day. Even worse though is that it further shows the American people (at least those not blinded by infantile prejudices) how out-of-touch, cold, diabolical, devious and wicked the custodians of the far right are, and why as long as they are in power, God will never smile upon this nation as HE hates "A Heart That Devises Wicked Plans" (Proverbs 6:18).
This election will not be about Barack Obama or John McCain, or even about "Republicans" or Democrats or Independents at that; it will in fact be about the American people deciding once and for all that enough is enough. That the politics of fear, deception and hate has run its course and has become an ill-wind that blows no one any good.
