NIGERIA'S NEW RED MARKETS:
ARE WE ENTERING THE DRAGON?

”..the market, painted in red, is believed to be the colour that brings good luck and blessing to the Chinese." -Nigerian Punch.

nd they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? Rev 13.4 The above quoted clause by the Punch, caught my attention because I have lived in China for more than ten years of missionary sojourn in Asia. What Punch was reporting unknowingly is the spiritual side of Chinese invasion of the world market system with sorcery and eastern mystic religion. One danger about eastern mystic religion is that it is potent with sorcery to bewitch.. – Note that“..Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one” Acts 8.9

Apart from economic monopoly in which Nigerians would not survive by mere competition, Nigerians in China are not allowed to observe their faith and carry on similar business activities in China, instead there are cases of Nigerians beaten by police on Sundays, during worship services, and Pastors and community leaders are often mistreated. So, should Nigeria now reward China with retail marketing opportunity without due diplomatic pay-back? Does that not look like paying them for mistreating Nigerians in their land? This is what bewitchment is about. I leave that there for now.

The new China Town on Ketu-Oworonshoki Expressway in Lagos is one of 7 examples in Nigeria, where Chinese spiritual charms intertwine with daily businesses. China would take over any nation that is carnal and un-spiritual, why? The Chinese are spiritual, they worship dragon and most practice sorcery. You don’t answer spirit with trade agreement or democracy or with "friendship", rather deep calls unto deep. Spirit answers to spirit! Jesus is the head of all principalities and powers, and this is the answer. This is why China schemes out the Gospel while carrying their dragon on. This explains why a deeply religious nation often enjoys persecuting rival beliefs, especially Christianity.

However, many think like, it's early to ask China to do what is right and stop cracking down on religious activities citing their communist background. While others think that their growing role in the world economy, now demand for equal moral obligation and justice for healthy and fair trade. It good to hold these some views. But, people who hold good views might still be disappointed if they pay little attention about spiritual warfare concerning world economy –“And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Rev 13.17. Monopoly is the future of world economy and religion. And China is giving the world the master of monopoly - the dragon. Except those who chose to counter these moves through CHRIST, it will always be win-win for China. ”December 21– Mobs attacked nuns in Xi’an and priests in Tianjin during the past month as the Roman Catholics peacefully tried to settle property disputes with the government. At press time, Chinese police surrounded a group of Catholic priests and nuns who have locked themselves into the building they claim. About 30 people with steel bars, sticks and bricks on December 16 had attacked a group of priests applying for recovery of the property. AsiaNews reported that police detained the clergymen, not the attackers, denying the severely beaten priests hospital care. And on November 23 in Xi’an, a group of 40 men armed with wooden sticks attacked 200 nuns peacefully protesting the illegal demolition of their diocesan school. The nuns had started a sit-in in this northern city when the mob, widely regarded to have been sent by the government, mocked and then physically attacked the nuns, shouting ‘Kill them! Kill them!”

In China, Nigerian Christians have shown great examples. Other Africans bear good testimonies of Nigerian Churches. Any one claiming that Christians make trouble or that the Nigerian Churches are trying to proselyte Chinese by force is not presenting the truth. Chinese believers do not meet together with foreigners, so we were told, and so foreigners meet separately. Though, I presume our Ambassador in China as a kind hearted man, we understand that some officials of the Nigerian Embassy are not well informed of the terrain, and always blame the hurting Nigerians for "preaching the gospel" or querying others on why they are in China. They may also have their reasons or working in ways many do not all see or understand. But, I want to believe that diplomatic duties are essentially patriotic ones.

Book of Revelation describes the great battle going on between Christ and dragon. Dragon wants to be worshipped. "All the world marveled and followed after the beast which received the deadly wound but was healed. So they worshiped the Dragon who gave authority to the beast.." See Rev 13.3,4. From the beginning, this is what Satan was craving for with jealousy.

Who is the dragon? Rev. 12:9 tells us it is Satan, the devil himself-- who is at war against Christ. Why the red color? “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon…” Rev 12:3

So, I must in every honesty encourage Christians to preach the gospel in China as the only means of eternal life to the good people. The main reason is that we love the Chinese people and care for their lives hereafter. I have read about Americans and Canadians arrested for running Christian meetings in China, I have never heard their Embassy ridiculing their great efforts or querying why they preach to Chinese. They always insist on the release of their citizens without conditions.

Life on earth is only temporary, thereafter, all knees shall bow before Christ, the Judge of all, and not before the dragon nor before money not even before any world leader. Those who believe this gospel must preach to save others. This is illustrious and virtuous, in my own thinking!

What are the implications of dragon rituals in Nigerian markets today? A future war against the Church in Nigeria is eminent. One thing the dragon does is to make war against the holy seed.

"And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

And you say - will the Government be influenced against the Church in Nigeria as now happening in US, Canada and Europe? I don't know when, pray about it.. very possible if Christians in Nigeria sleep. But pray against the introduction of dragon worship and eastern mystic religion which wars against the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Nigerian Government of today, fighting war against corruption and corrupt system, and battling as it were, for the soul of the nation, must consider the urgent need today, for competent Spiritual advisers.
