PRESIDENT OBASANJO AND BABANGIDA'S GAME PLAN

igeria the giant of Africa is at it again, whenever it seems we are about albeit gradually shaking off the big messy clay that glued our feet so shamefully over the years, the enemies within always showed up from the corner to push us again deeper into the pit of clay to consternation and amazement of the rest of the world. The enemies within always relish a disorientated polity because it would allow them to tantalise us with our common wealth with brazen effrontery. It is loathsome that when we are loosening ourselves from the conjured maradonic solution foist on us, as a direct fall-out of a deliberate quagmire precipitated by these enemies within in 1993, they are at it again!

This conspiracy can be further appreciated, by the issue that is suddenly dominating our nascent political life after repeated denials despite constant surreptitious moves by the promoters. The issue of course, is the third term that has created an unmitigated frenzy amongst all and sundry. From the mounting opposition to this project as rise and set, it is increasingly clear that Nigerians are now becoming more predictable politically in lashing out against political irresponsibility when ever they see one. From the look of things however it seems we are still being beating hands down so far.

The initiators and promoters of this big diversionary tactic and decoy called the third term project would be patting themselves on the back and clicking their glass of champagne in their various inner recesses of their hill top mansions and their lavishly decorated penthouses all over the country and beyond. The reason being that a lot of none suspecting Nigerians are swallowing the decoy hook line and sinker. It has become their pastime to attempt to dribble and toy with the lives of hapless Nigerians as they are doing now.

To this cabal, let them know that the game is up, as some discerning minds can indeed see through their veil of disguise that this their rigmarole tactics of selective, de-registering and discarding, which is the order of the day is designed to lead us to a predetermined game plan bigger and more repulsive than the third term.

It is a little surprising considering the level of our political awareness now that very few people can actually see through this deceit and fully understand their game plan as the 2007 presidential election moves closer to us than we are prepared. I enjoy my country men to look more closely and they would see that these people are up to using what they have in person of the incumbent president to lead them to where they wanted all our destiny to be…. in their bondage.

Due to the unpalatable experience we have had in all fronts in our recent history, Nigerians, especially those that are some what able to read and write had consciously and unconsciously vowed that whatever it takes, never would it happen again that a self confessed and boastfully evil-genius be allowed to rule us again. So the populace have been waiting and sufficiently motivated by a common anger in readiness for the big battle that will show the real Nigerians and to prove that we can tame this recurrent abnormality in our polity once and for all. The whole country is also waiting to demonstrate that evil cannot and must not triumph over people of goodwill, thereby casting the evil genius where he belong…in the wrong side of economic and political history.

But IBB for the kind of man he is, always want to prove that he can out smart all of us, because of his believe that we all are cowards, greedy, unprincipled, gullible and choose to have short memory. He is always sure of a magical wand that will continue binding us to his whims and caprices. So he and his collaborators hatched a plan designed to pull wool over our face once more…at least so they think.

They realised from the feed back that they are getting from the field, that in no time with our "clear eyes" to use the language of the common folks, we would allow IBB passage to any meaningful political office again in this country not to talk of the presidency which he desired so strongly and dangerously. They reckon the only way they could wriggle trough is to create a monumental controversy in the political terrain. This couple with selective harassments of perceived enemies, they hope will cow us and provide leeway and a criminal compromise that will allow president Obasanjo to install IBB the president in 2007 via the dubious process that is unfolding in our very eyes, thereby achieving the real agenda which they have used third decoy for.

President Obasanjo and his now very dangerous eggheads know fully well their boss is not interested and can never be president beyond 2007 and that is why he has maintained a studied silence in public and laugh heartily in private to celebrate the game plan that seems to be going smoothly on one hand and at our folly on the second hand for our in ability to realise the trick.

He has cleared the perceived obstacles in PDP. He is now the alpha and omega of their own PDP that is already touting him as the sole presidential candidate in a game that Chief and Chief (Mrs) Tony Anineh are competing to out do each other. The people will continue to oppose this vehemently as we are doing until he and his cohorts would begin to test waters for IBB´s candidature .The argument would be, since opposition to extension of his tenure is rife he would sacrifice his own ambition to encourage someone he believes has the experience of ruling the country before like him. He would further argue that for continuity, a president that will keep the military in the barracks and more importantly as an incumbent that ought to have a hand in choosing the person that will come after him.

Of course, the usual treats and rhetoric that we are used to, often aimed at polluting our country's democratic aspirations, thus completing the step aside phenomenon that had been hatched all along by the evil genius when he was been disgraced out of power. Need to say, all other protégées masquerading as presidential hopefuls and in their own PDP would be fallen over themselves to withdraw and show solidarity to the anointed man in what would be an unprecedented sycophancy.

The likes of Tony Anineh, Prof Jubril Aminu, Brigadier Gen. Buba Maruwa rtd,Col. Abubarka Umaru rtd,Bode George,Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, Prof.Gerry Gana, PDP Chairman,Ahmadu Ali,Ojo Madueke,Dejo Raimi, PDP various link men and women and a host of others who are in the thick of this game plan can not come out in their clean conscience to deny this plot. It is very clear to all discerning mind that this core cabal has retired military men as their promoters and civilian collaborators who will always do their bidding at a drop of hat. These people have continually shown that they love their pocket and good life than the collective stability and economic progress of our country. They appeared, they couldn't rise above being the appendages and dependants governmental institutions that have nurtured and enrich them over the years.

It is still not clear whether some foreign countries will support this game plan as Baba will be shuttling more nowadays to assure them, the IMF and other monetary lords that Babangida had done their bidding in the past and will do it again and again.

However, men of goodwill and providence will come to our aide. I believe Nigerians are wiser and would transfer the formidable opposition to this third term decoy to the real agenda when they bring it on. I just want to warn here that we should be more vigilant and continue to see through their de -servicing game plan at all times. If they are the Maradonas, we should show them we are the Peles and Ronaldinhos combined. The massage should be clear, no matter the goals they have scored with hand or intend to score with hand, we shall over come them.

In wrapping up this piece, it is worthy to commend Nigerians who are unified in opposition to this third term agenda, let it be reiterated that this is the first joker in the bigger game plan. From MDD to MDR,they should be resolute. Whatever some people say it is better late than never. I am not also oblivious of the fact that, some members of MDR are actually part of this evil game plan, time will sort them out. Ohaneze,the real Afeneferes, social critics, opinion moulders, journalists, Labour unions, many former heads of states, religious leaders, many Governors, senators, house of representative members, other elected office holders and to ordinary Nigerians in the streets who are betrayed by Obasanjo´s disposition, this is the beginning of the fight.

Of great importance however, is the exemplary way the vice President; Atiku Abubarka has registered his principled stance against this plot despite unjustified gang-up against him. History will vindicate those that know and do the right thing in the face of intimidation. As 2007 inches closer, we must not allow this game plan to succeed, because if we do by letting down our guard, it's bye-bye Nigeria.
